Privacy Policy
Short version: we collect only what the site needs, we never sell it, and there is no advertising and no tracking. Effective October 16, 2026.
In short
- Parents make one family account (email, family name, password). Children are only a first name or nickname, a grade, an avatar and their progress.
- No advertising. No selling of anyone's information. No analytics or tracking cookies.
- Our only helpers are Bunny.net (hosting and database), Stripe (payments), Google Fonts (typefaces) and our email service.
- You can see, correct or delete your family's information at any time. Write to hello@ezralearning.com.
Who we are
Ezra Learning (ezralearning.com) is a Christian homeschool curriculum made by a Christian family in Canada, first for our own children. When this page says “we”, “us” or “Ezra Learning”, it means that family and the site.
This policy explains what personal information the site collects, why, who helps us run it, and the choices you have. It covers the public website, the learning portal at ezralearning.com/app/, and the free Copywork Books. If you have any question about it, write to hello@ezralearning.com; a person reads every message.
What we collect
We collect only what the site needs to work. Here is everything, in plain words.
| What | Details and why |
|---|---|
| Your family account | Your email address, a family name, and a password. We never store the password itself, only a one-way scrambled version (a salted PBKDF2 hash) that cannot be turned back into it. We also keep your plan (Free or Family), the date it is paid through, the day you joined, the day you were last here, the number of children and skills mastered, and your newsletter choice. This lets you sign in, keeps your progress on every device and lets us look after billing and support. |
| Your children's profiles | A parent adds each child with a first name or nickname, a grade, and an avatar picture and colour. As children learn, the portal records their progress: which skills they have tried and mastered, scores, minutes of activity, awards and certificates, plus your family settings (such as American or Canadian spelling). This is saved in your account so that it follows your family from device to device. Children do not have accounts. They have no email, no password, no photo, no birthday, no address and no location on file with us. We suggest using a first name or a nickname. |
| The free Copywork Books | If you ask for the free books, we collect your email address (and the grade you picked, if you pick one) so that we can send you the books and tell you now and then about new lessons and books. |
| Payments | Payments are handled by Stripe. Your card details are entered with Stripe and are not stored on our servers. Stripe tells us whether the payment worked, and we record your plan and the date it is paid through. |
| Messages to us | If you email us, we keep the message and our reply so that we can help you. When you ask for a password reset, we make a one-time link that works for 48 hours and email it to the address on your account. |
| Security log | A short log of account events (sign-up, sign-in, plan changes, password resets) with the date, so we can help you and spot misuse. |
| Technical data | Like any website, our hosting provider receives your device's IP address and basic request details (such as the page asked for and the browser type) in order to deliver pages and protect the site from abuse. Our account service uses your IP address only to slow down repeated sign-in attempts. It is not saved with your account. |
What we do not do
- We do not show advertising and we never sell or rent anyone's personal information, including children's.
- We do not use analytics, advertising or tracking tools on the site, and we do not use tracking cookies or advertising pixels.
- We do not build advertising profiles of parents or children, and we do not use children's progress for anything except showing it back to the family.
- We do not ask children for personal information. A child taps their picture and starts; everything else is set up by a parent.
- We do not run chat features, public profiles, comments or leaderboards, so children cannot talk to strangers or be found through the site.
Cookies and your browser's storage
The site does not use cookies. The portal does use your browser's built-in local storage, which is a small space on your own device, to keep you signed in, to remember your children's profiles and progress on that device, and to remember small things such as which part of the Library you had open. If you sign out, your children's progress stays on that device so that you do not lose it. If you clear your browser's site data, this storage is erased; when you sign in again, your progress is restored from your family account.
Who helps us run the site
We share information only with the companies that run the site for us, and only what they need to do their job.
- Bunny.net (bunny.net) hosts the site, delivers it through its content network, and runs our account service and the database where family accounts and progress are saved.
- Stripe (stripe.com) processes payments for the Family plan.
- Google Fonts (fonts.google.com) supplies the typefaces. When a page loads, your browser asks Google's servers for the fonts, so Google receives your IP address and browser details as part of that request. It is the only outside service your browser contacts while you use our pages, and we do not send Google anything else.
- Our email service delivers and receives the email we send and receive, such as password reset links, replies to your questions, and the occasional newsletter.
We may also disclose information if the law requires it or if it is needed to protect the safety of a child or the security of the site.
Some of these companies store or handle information outside Canada, including in Europe and the United States. When information is stored in another country, the laws of that country, and the courts and authorities there, may be able to access it.
How we use it, and your consent
We use personal information to run your account and keep your children's progress; to show it back to your family; to take payment and keep your plan accurate; to answer your messages and provide support; to keep the site secure; and, if you asked for it, to send news about new lessons and books. We do not use it for anything else without asking you first.
By creating an account, adding a child, or giving us your email address, you consent to this use. You are the parent or guardian of any child you add, and you consent for them. You can withdraw your consent at any time by writing to us (see “Your choices”); note that if you ask us to delete your account we can no longer provide the service for it.
The newsletter is optional. Every message can be unsubscribed from, or you can write to us, and we will stop sending it. Unsubscribing never affects your account.
How long we keep it
We keep your account and your children's progress for as long as your account is open. If you ask us to delete it, we do so within 30 days. Email addresses for the free books stay on our list until you unsubscribe or ask us to remove them. Short-lived items expire by themselves: sign-in sessions after 90 days without use, and password reset links after 48 hours. Messages you send us are kept as long as they are useful to help you. Copies of the database made by our provider for safekeeping may hold deleted information for a short while before they are overwritten.
How we keep it safe
- All traffic between your device and our servers is encrypted (HTTPS).
- Passwords are stored only as salted, slowed-down hashes. Sign-in and reset tokens are stored only as hashes.
- Only the site owner can open the administration page, and it is protected by a long password and a short session.
- Your children's progress is saved with your family account and is not visible to other families.
No website is perfectly secure, so please choose a strong, unique password. If a breach of our systems ever creates a real risk of significant harm to you, we will tell you, and report it to the Privacy Commissioner of Canada, as Canadian law requires.
Your choices and rights
Your information is yours. You can:
- See what we hold about you and your children, and get a copy.
- Correct anything that is wrong. You can change your children's names, grades and avatars yourself on the Parents page, and download a backup of your family's data from there.
- Delete a child on the Parents page; their profile, progress, awards and certificates are removed and the change is saved to your account.
- Delete your whole account and the information tied to it.
- Stop the newsletter or withdraw any other consent.
To use any of these, write to hello@ezralearning.com from the email address on your account (so that we know it is really you), and we will answer within 30 days. If you are not happy with our answer, you can complain to the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada, or to the privacy authority of your province.
Children
Ezra Learning is made for parents to use with their children. Only a parent or guardian creates an account, and the only information about a child is what the parent enters in the child's profile and what the child's learning produces. We do not knowingly collect information from a child who is using the site on their own. If you think a child has given us personal information in some other way, write to us and we will delete it.
Changes to this policy
If we change what we collect or how we use it, we will update this page and its date, and for a significant change we will also tell account holders in the portal or by email. This policy took effect on October 16, 2026.
