Ezra Learning vs Time4Learning
Time4Learning is a secular online curriculum for preschool to Grade 12, priced per student with a sibling discount; Ezra is a Christian Grades 1–9 curriculum priced for the household. Here is how they compare, line by line, for a family looking for a Christian alternative. Facts checked October 14, 2026; sources at the end.
What each one is
Time4Learning is a secular online homeschool curriculum for preschool through Grade 12. A student gets up to seven courses at once in language arts, math, science and social studies (electives are added in middle and high school), taught in animated, interactive lessons with videos, quizzes, printable worksheets and hands-on activities, and the program grades the work and keeps the records. A membership is $39.95 a month per student at every grade; a second student is 10% off, three to five students are 20% off, six or more are 25% off, and annual plans are listed as 30% off.
Ezra Learning covers Grades 1–9 in Mathematics, English, Spelling, Bible and Geography, with about 6,900 hands-on practice skills and 1,220 narrated lessons, each with a printable sheet. Scripture (Berean Standard Bible) is read word for word in every strand of every subject; there are no cartoons, games or characters. The Family plan is $15 a month per household, up to six children, and the first two sections of every subject and grade are free.
Time4Learning fits best when…
Choose Time4Learning if you need preschool, kindergarten or Grades 10–12, you want Science and Social Studies in the same program as math and language arts, your child likes animated lessons and learning games, you want a student to work at a different grade level in each subject, or you want transcript and report templates for a high-school student.
Ezra fits best when…
Choose Ezra if your children are in Grades 1–9, you want a Christian program with a Bible verse read aloud in every strand of every subject, you prefer one calm voice and a simple drawing to animation and characters, you want no games or rewards on the screen, you want practice the child does with his hands, and you have more than one child — the price is for the household.

What it costs your family
The biggest practical difference is how the price is counted. Time4Learning is priced per student. Ezra is priced per household, so a second, third or fourth child costs nothing more.
Ezra: $15 × 12 at the introductory price (normally $19 a month). Time4Learning: $479.40 a year for one child, $39.95 a month per student at every grade, about $479.40 for twelve months of one student; with two students the second is 10% off, with three to five students 20% off, with six or more 25% off (the discount is applied to the students of equal or lesser value); annual plans are listed as 30% off with no dollar figure given; the chart counts each additional child as their site prices it. Time4Learning lists no free trial on its site. Time4MathFacts is included; extra courses in Grades 6–12 are $5 a month each per student, and book bundles are sold separately.
How a lesson is taught
A Time4Learning lesson is an animated, interactive lesson on the screen: the child watches a video or an animated explanation, often led by a character, answers the questions as he goes, and takes the quiz at the end. Printable worksheets and hands-on activities go with many lessons, and the elementary math membership includes Time4MathFacts, a collection of math learning games. The program grades the quizzes and tests, and the parent sees the scores and progress in the parent dashboard, plans the week with the activity planner, and can print reports. Time4Learning says it is a curriculum, not a school: there are no live teachers and it is not accredited.
An Ezra lesson is a short narrated slideshow: one voice reads every word while a simple line drawing builds up on the slide — no cartoons, no characters, no questions asked of the child inside the lesson. The lesson ends with a Bible verse read aloud, and every lesson has a printable sheet for the child to do on paper. Then the child goes to the practice skills of that strand, which are hands-on: drag the pieces, tap the picture, build the number, sort the words, drop a pin on the map.
Where the Bible sits
Time4Learning describes itself on its own pages as "a complete, secular online homeschool curriculum". There is no Bible course and no Scripture in the lessons; a family that wants the Bible in the school day adds it from somewhere else. In Ezra, Scripture is not a subject on the side. Every strand of Mathematics, English, Spelling and Geography closes with a verse from the Berean Standard Bible, read aloud word for word, and a Scripture practice skill sits at the end of every strand. Bible is also a subject of its own in every grade, with a character strand (obey right away, tell the truth, no quarrelling) in each. The verses are never paraphrased.
What Time4Learning has that Ezra does not
Preschool, kindergarten and Grades 10–12. Science and Social Studies as full courses, and electives in middle and high school. Animated lessons and a collection of math games for children who learn well that way. A student can sit at different grade levels in different subjects at the same time. Automatic grading with report, transcript and diploma templates for the high-school years, and a parent activity planner. A larger course list all round.
What Ezra has that Time4Learning does not
A Bible verse in every strand of every subject, read aloud word for word from the Berean Standard Bible. Practice the child does with his hands — dragging, sorting, building, dropping a pin on a map — rather than ticking boxes. One calm narrated voice with a simple drawing on every slide, and no cartoons, games, characters or rewards shops. A printable sheet for every lesson and a library of 147 books and packs (copywork, handwriting, grammar, spelling, Bible, maps, a year planner). One price for the household, however many children. And two free sections of every subject and grade, so a family can see all of it before paying anything.
Questions families ask
Is Time4Learning cheaper than Ezra Learning?
No. Time4Learning is $39.95 a month per student, about $479.40 a year for one child at the monthly price, with 10% off a second student, 20% off three to five students and 25% off six or more; annual plans are listed as 30% off without a dollar figure. Ezra is $15 USD a month for the whole household at the introductory price, $180 a year, however many children, up to six.
Is Time4Learning Christian?
No. Time4Learning says on its own site that it is a secular curriculum. It is a neutral program rather than one that argues against faith, but there is no Bible in it. Ezra is a Christian curriculum: Bible is a subject in every grade, and every strand of Math, English, Spelling and Geography ends with a verse from the Berean Standard Bible read aloud.
Does Ezra Learning cover high school?
No. Ezra covers Grades 1–9. Time4Learning runs from preschool to Grade 12 and gives transcript and diploma templates, so a family with a Grade 10–12 student needs Time4Learning or another program for those years.
Does Ezra have Science or History?
No, on purpose. Ezra teaches Mathematics, English, Spelling, Bible and Geography. Time4Learning includes Science and Social Studies as core courses at every grade.
Will my child see cartoons, games or characters?
On Time4Learning, yes: the lessons are animated, some courses are led by characters, and the elementary membership includes math learning games. Ezra has none of these — one narrated voice, a simple line drawing on every slide, no games, no characters and no rewards shop.
Can I try either one for free?
Time4Learning lists no free trial on its site; a membership starts on the day you register and is billed every 30 days. Ezra keeps the first two sections of every subject and grade free, with no time limit and no card.
