Ezra Learning vs My Father's World

My Father's World is a print unit-study curriculum for preschool to Grade 12, built on Bible, history and real books, taught by the parent from a weekly chart, with math and language arts bought separately; Ezra is a Grades 1–9 online curriculum priced for the household. Here is how they compare, line by line. Facts checked October 14, 2026; sources at the end.

In one minute

What each one is

My Father's World is a print homeschool curriculum that, in its own words, "combines the best of Charlotte Mason's ideas, classical education, and unit studies", for preschool through Grade 12. Each year is one package: a Teacher's Manual with daily plans in a weekly chart, real books to read aloud, student sheets and hands-on projects, covering Bible, history, geography, science, art and music together; Grades 4–8 share one program in a five-year Family Learning Cycle so siblings learn the same theme at their own levels. Math and Language Arts are required but sold separately. The World Changers Package for 3rd Grade is $482.17 at full retail, shown at $385.74 with October's 20% package discount, with Student Sheets at $48.95.

Ezra Learning covers Grades 1–9 in Mathematics, English, Spelling, Bible and Geography, with about 6,900 hands-on practice skills and 1,220 narrated lessons, each with a printable sheet. Scripture (Berean Standard Bible) is read word for word in every strand of every subject; there are no cartoons, games or characters. The Family plan is $15 a month per household, up to six children, and the first two sections of every subject and grade are free.

My Father's World fits best when…

Choose My Father's World if you want the Bible to be the spine of a year that also carries history, geography, science, art and music, you have several children in Grades 4–8 you want learning the same theme at one table, you like read-alouds, notebooks, timelines, nature walks and projects more than screens, you want the whole year planned in a weekly chart you open and follow, and you want books and manuals you own and can pass to the next child.

Ezra fits best when…

Choose Ezra if your children are in Grades 1–9, you want Math, English and Spelling taught and practiced inside the program rather than bought from somewhere else, you want a lesson the child watches and hands-on practice that grades itself with a report for you, you want a Bible verse read aloud in every strand of every subject, and you want one price for the household — a My Father's World package is per child, before math and language arts are added.

Price

What it costs your family

The biggest practical difference is how the price is counted. My Father's World is priced per student. Ezra is priced per household, so a second, third or fourth child costs nothing more.

Ezra: $15 × 12 at the introductory price (normally $19 a month). My Father's World: $482.17 a year per child, for the World Changers Package (3rd Grade) at full retail; Math and Language Arts are required and sold separately; the chart multiplies by the number of children. In October 2026 their site shows the World Changers Package at $385.74 (a seasonal 20% off the $482.17 retail; their Pricing page lists 20–25% package discounts every month from October to February). Student Sheets are $48.95, the NIrV Discoverer's Bible $34.99, and the Math and Language Arts programs are bought separately. Free U.S. shipping on orders over $150.

Lessons

How a lesson is taught

A My Father's World day follows the weekly chart in the Teacher's Manual, which lists every subject with the book and the pages for that day. The parent reads the Bible passage and the history summary aloud — in World Changers the manual carries eighteen short history summaries to read — the child reads from his own Bible or reader, fills a page in his history notebook or student sheets, adds to the timeline or a map, and does the day's project: a pre-engineering build, a nature walk with a journal entry, a drawing lesson, a hymn or a recorder lesson. Math and language arts are done in the separately bought programs the manual schedules. Afternoons are left open on purpose. The parent keeps the records; nothing is graded automatically, and the manual and most books serve the next child with new student sheets.

An Ezra lesson is a short narrated slideshow: one voice reads every word while a simple line drawing builds up on the slide — no cartoons, no characters, no questions asked of the child inside the lesson. The lesson ends with a Bible verse read aloud, and every lesson has a printable sheet for the child to do on paper. Then the child goes to the practice skills of that strand, which are hands-on: drag the pieces, tap the picture, build the number, sort the words, drop a pin on the map.

Scripture

Where the Bible sits

Both programs are Christian. My Father's World says its curriculum is built on a "Christian biblical worldview" with Bible content integrated into every subject; the Bible is the spine of each year — a Bible reader and Bible notebook in Grade 1, the Names of Jesus in Grade 2, James memorized verse by verse in Exploration to 1850, the Old and New Testaments read verse by verse in Grades 9–10. The recommended children's Bible in the early grades is the NIrV Discoverer's Bible for Young Readers (New International Reader's Version). In Ezra, Scripture is not a subject on the side. Every strand of Mathematics, English, Spelling and Geography closes with a verse from the Berean Standard Bible, read aloud word for word, and a Scripture practice skill sits at the end of every strand. Bible is also a subject of its own in every grade, with a character strand (obey right away, tell the truth, no quarrelling) in each. The verses are never paraphrased.

Fair is fair

What My Father's World has that Ezra does not

Preschool, Kindergarten and Grades 10–12. History and Science as full subjects, with art, music, hymns and recorder in the same package. A year in which Bible is the backbone and the other subjects hang from it, with Scripture memory and a Bible notebook. One program for Grades 4–8 so a family's middle children learn together. Real books read aloud, timelines, history notebooks, nature journals and hands-on projects, all scheduled in a weekly chart. Books and manuals the family keeps and reuses, and free U.S. shipping over $150.

What Ezra has that My Father's World does not

Math, English and Spelling taught inside the program, Grades 1–9, with no second program to buy. A Bible verse in every strand of every subject, read aloud word for word from the Berean Standard Bible, and a Bible subject in every grade. A lesson that teaches itself: the child presses play and a calm voice walks him through it with a simple line drawing on every slide, so the parent is not the reader and teacher of every subject every day. Practice the child does with his hands — dragging, sorting, building, dropping a pin on a map — generated endlessly and graded on the spot, with a parent report that shows mastery, minutes and where he needs a hand. Geography as a subject of its own with maps the child touches. A printable sheet for every lesson and a library of 147 books and packs. One price for the household. And two free sections of every subject and grade, so a family can see all of it before paying anything.

Questions

Questions families ask

Is My Father's World cheaper than Ezra Learning?

No. The World Changers Package for 3rd Grade is $482.17 at full retail per child on mfwbooks.com ($385.74 with October's 20% discount), plus $48.95 for Student Sheets, and the math and language arts programs are bought separately. Ezra is $180 a year at the introductory price for the household, with math, English and spelling included. My Father's World's manuals and books can be reused for the next child, which lowers the cost over time.

Does Ezra Learning cover high school?

No. Ezra covers Grades 1–9. My Father's World runs to Grade 12 with one program a year that combines history, English and Bible for three credits, so a family with a Grade 10–12 student needs My Father's World or another program for those years.

Does Ezra have Science or History?

No, on purpose. Ezra teaches Mathematics, English, Spelling, Bible and Geography. My Father's World makes history the theme of every year from Grade 2 and includes science in each package.

Does My Father's World include math and language arts?

Not in the package. Their product pages mark Math and Language Arts as required and sold separately, and the Teacher's Manual schedules the programs they recommend. Ezra teaches Mathematics, English and Spelling itself.

Is My Father's World Christian?

Yes. It describes its curriculum as built on a Christian biblical worldview, with Bible as the spine of every year, Scripture memory and a Bible notebook; the children's Bible it recommends in the early grades is the NIrV Discoverer's Bible. Ezra is Christian as well, reading a verse from the Berean Standard Bible in every strand of every subject.

Can I try either one for free?

My Father's World offers free downloads, a free catalog and a free consultation on its site, but no free trial of a package. Ezra keeps the first two sections of every subject and grade free, with no time limit and no card.
