Ezra Learning vs LIFEPAC
LIFEPAC is Alpha Omega's print curriculum of worktexts the child works on his own, sold by subject or as a full-grade set; Ezra is an online curriculum for Grades 1–9 priced for the household. Here is how they compare, line by line. Facts checked October 14, 2026; sources at the end.
What each one is
LIFEPAC homeschool curriculum is the print curriculum of Alpha Omega Publications, a "Bible-centered", mastery-based program for kindergarten through Grade 12 in Bible, History & Geography, Language Arts, Math and Science, with electives. Each subject is ten worktexts a year, about one a month and three or four pages a day, with instruction, activities and self tests in the booklet and a unit test at the end; the child works at his own pace and must show he has mastered a unit before going on, and the parent grades from the teacher's guide and keeps the records. The 3rd Grade Complete Grade Set — fifty worktexts and five teacher's guides across the five subjects, for one child — is $468.00, and subjects are also sold one at a time.
Ezra Learning covers Grades 1–9 in Mathematics, English, Spelling, Bible and Geography, with about 6,900 hands-on practice skills and 1,220 narrated lessons, each with a printable sheet. Scripture (Berean Standard Bible) is read word for word in every strand of every subject; there are no cartoons, games or characters. The Family plan is $15 a month per household, up to six children, and the first two sections of every subject and grade are free.
LIFEPAC fits best when…
Choose LIFEPAC if you want a child who works on paper at his own pace with no screen, you want Science, History & Geography and all of high school from one Christian publisher, you like a unit-a-month rhythm with self tests and a unit test already written, you want the whole year's books and teacher's guides in one box, or you may later want the same company's online version, Monarch, for an older child.
Ezra fits best when…
Choose Ezra if your children are in Grades 1–9, you want a lesson taught by a voice with a drawing rather than read from a page, you want practice the child does with his hands that grades itself and shows you a report, you want a Bible verse read aloud in every strand of every subject, and you have more than one child — the price is for the household, with nothing to buy per grade.

What it costs your family
The biggest practical difference is how the price is counted. LIFEPAC is priced per student. Ezra is priced per household, so a second, third or fourth child costs nothing more.
Ezra: $15 × 12 at the introductory price (normally $19 a month). LIFEPAC: $468 a year per child, for the 3rd Grade Complete Grade Set — 50 worktexts and 5 teacher's guides in Bible, History & Geography, Language Arts, Math and Science; the chart multiplies by the number of children. AOP also lists a Grade 3 Core Subjects Set of four subjects at $432.00 and single subjects such as the Grade 3 Math student set of ten worktexts at $102.00 (teacher's guide not included). Sample pages for each subject are free PDFs on the product page.
How a lesson is taught
A LIFEPAC lesson is three or four pages of a worktext that the child reads and works on his own: the booklet teaches the concept, links it to what he already knows, and gives the activities, with self tests along the way and a unit test at the end of each of the ten booklets. He works at his own pace and goes on to the next worktext when he has shown he has mastered the unit; AOP suggests one booklet a subject a month. The parent grades the assignments and tests from the teacher's guide, which has the answer keys, and keeps the record book — more instruction from the parent is needed in the early grades. The strengths of paper are all here: no screen, no subscription, the year in one box, and a younger child who can use the teacher's guides again.
An Ezra lesson is a short narrated slideshow: one voice reads every word while a simple line drawing builds up on the slide — no cartoons, no characters, no questions asked of the child inside the lesson. The lesson ends with a Bible verse read aloud, and every lesson has a printable sheet for the child to do on paper. Then the child goes to the practice skills of that strand, which are hands-on: drag the pieces, tap the picture, build the number, sort the words, drop a pin on the map.
Where the Bible sits
Both programs are Christian. LIFEPAC is a Christian curriculum from a Christian publisher: AOP calls it "Bible-centered", Bible is one of the five subjects in every grade with ten worktexts of its own, and the other subjects are taught from a biblical worldview. The Bible version used is not stated on the pages we read. In Ezra, Scripture is not a subject on the side. Every strand of Mathematics, English, Spelling and Geography closes with a verse from the Berean Standard Bible, read aloud word for word, and a Scripture practice skill sits at the end of every strand. Bible is also a subject of its own in every grade, with a character strand (obey right away, tell the truth, no quarrelling) in each. The verses are never paraphrased.
What LIFEPAC has that Ezra does not
Kindergarten and Grades 10–12. Science and History & Geography as full subjects, and electives. Self tests and a unit test written into every worktext, with a teacher's guide, answer keys and record books for the parent. A full year of five subjects in one box, or any one subject on its own. The same company's online program, Monarch, if a family later wants to move an older child to a screen. And books on paper — no screen, no subscription, and teacher's guides a younger child can use again.
What Ezra has that LIFEPAC does not
A Bible verse in every strand of every subject, read aloud word for word from the Berean Standard Bible, and a Bible subject of its own in every grade with a character strand. A narrated lesson the child can press play on, with a simple line drawing on every slide, so a child who reads slowly is not teaching himself from the page. Practice the child does with his hands — dragging, sorting, building, dropping a pin on a map — generated endlessly, graded on the spot, with a parent report that shows mastery, minutes and where he needs a hand, so nothing has to be graded by hand. Spelling and Geography as subjects of their own. A printable sheet for every lesson and a library of 147 books and packs. One price for the household, however many children and whichever grades. And two free sections of every subject and grade, so a family can see all of it before paying anything.
Questions families ask
Is LIFEPAC cheaper than Ezra Learning?
For one child in Grade 3, the LIFEPAC Complete Grade Set of five subjects is $468.00, the four-subject Core Subjects Set is $432.00, and a single subject such as Math is $102.00 for the ten student worktexts; Ezra is $15 USD a month, $180 a year, at the introductory price. LIFEPAC is bought per child and per grade, so two children in different grades are two sets; Ezra is one price for the household, so two children are still $180.
Does Ezra Learning cover high school?
No. Ezra covers Grades 1–9. LIFEPAC runs to Grade 12, so a family with a student past Grade 9 needs LIFEPAC or another program for those years.
Does Ezra have Science or History?
No, on purpose. Ezra teaches Mathematics, English, Spelling, Bible and Geography. LIFEPAC includes Science and History & Geography in every complete grade set.
Is LIFEPAC Christian?
Yes. Alpha Omega Publications calls LIFEPAC Bible-centered, teaches Bible as one of its five subjects in every grade, and teaches the other subjects from a biblical worldview. Ezra is Christian as well, and reads a verse from the Berean Standard Bible in every strand of every subject.
What is the difference between LIFEPAC and Monarch?
Both are from Alpha Omega Publications. LIFEPAC is the print version: worktexts the child writes in and the parent grades. Monarch is the online version for Grades 3–12, priced per student by subscription, with automatic grading. We compare Ezra with Monarch on its own page.
Can I try either one for free?
LIFEPAC offers sample pages for each subject as free PDFs on its product pages; there is no free trial of the worktexts. Ezra keeps the first two sections of every subject and grade free, with no time limit and no card.
